Diego Simeone goes wild on touchline after seeing what Conor Gallagher did in final moments of Atletico Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao

The moment has gone viral for all the right reasons.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone and his assistant Nelson Vivas produced a wonderful reaction to Conor Gallagher's last-ditch tackles in the final moments of their clash against Athletic Bilbao.

Los Colchoneros moved two points clear in the La Liga title race on Saturday as a second-half goal from Julian Alvarez sealed all three points at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.

Alvarez won the plaudits after netting his 10th league goal of the season against Bilbao but for many, a goosebump-worthy moment involving Conor Gallagher in the dying embers was just as emphatic.

After replacing Samuel Lino with 30 minutes remaining, the former Chelsea midfielder made a game-changing impact, winning two out of his three ground duels, as well as recording three interceptions and two tackles.

And those two challenges in the final moments of Saturday's game brought a quite remarkable reaction from manager Diego Simeone, his assistant Nelson Vivas and the 60,000 fans inside the Metropolitano.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the below footage.

One said: "Diego Simeone absolutely loving Conor Gallagher putting in two big tackles. What a manager he is," while another commented: "Conor Gallagher is the perfect Atlético Madrid player. More players like this please."

A third wrote: "Gallagher found a home and I can’t be more happy for him. Real Chelsea fans knew he would fit into Diego’s game."

A fourth said: "You just have to love Simeone. He understands the game," and a fifth added: "Watched Atleti a couple of weeks ago v Mallorca, the home fans love him."

Gallagher, who has featured in 33 games for Atletico this season following his £34 million move from Chelsea, has quickly settled into life in Madrid.

Speaking to ESPN in December, the tireless midfielder said: "You can see the type of of players he likes and he needs in his kind of system, and I think it fitted me perfectly.

"So that was one of the decisions why I felt it was a a perfect move for me. And, hopefully I can keep improving and [keep] helping him as much as possible."

He added: "I feel settled in the club. Everyone at the club has made me feel at home, and it's been brilliant. Of course it's been difficult at times, the first few months to play as many games as possible and [I'm] still learning the the language and learning the new teammates and loads of stuff."
