Karim Benzema has been accused of posting a picture about betrayal, after national teammate Kylian Mbappe chose to stay at PSG rather than move to Real Madrid.
Rarely has been so much drama around one player's decision which football club to sign a contract with, as there was on Saturday with Mbappe.

Before the announcement Benzema took to social media to post what many believed was a dig directly at his fellow Frenchman, clearly upset that the World Cup winner wouldn't be joining him at the Bernabeu.
Then once Mbappe had been paraded around the ground to confirm his new three year deal, the Real striker returned to Instagram with a less subtle post that people read something very interesting into it.
The 34-year-old posted a picture of Tupac Shakur, all seems quite innocent, but in the background of the picture is a 'friend' of the rapper who supposedly betrayed the artist before his murder in 1996.

How true the story about betrayal is, or even that's why the former Lyon striker posted the picture, is questionable, but social media was certainly lapping it up.
"Karim Benzema has put this picture up on his Instagram page. It’s a picture of Tupac and a friend who betrayed him. Karim is not happy," someone social media explained.
"Karim Benzema using Tupac's betrayal as a reference for Mbappe's transfer saga on his Instagram story is really pathetic," one person commented on Twitter.
"Karim Benzema is not happy with Kylian Mbappe after posting a picture on Instagram of Tupac & the friend that betrayed him," another said.

However, a Benzema fan page was claiming they were to blame for the post, a twist that just adds more intrigue to the story.
They said that, knowing the favourite for the Ballon d'Or was a Tupac fan, they sent him the picture, he then coincidentally shared it on Saturday, after Mbappe's announcement.
The forward was not the only person annoyed with yesterday's news, with La Liga president Javier Tebas absolutely furious that his league wouldn't be getting a global superstar.

Tebas went as far as saying that the decision was an 'insult to football,' "What PSG is going to do by renewing Mbappe with large amounts of money (to know where and how he pays them) after € in recent seasons and having more than 600M € in salary, is an INSULT to football," Tebas tweeted.
"[PSG president, Nasser] Al-Khelaifi is as dangerous as the Super League," the La Liga chief added, apparently forgetting Real and Barcelona are two of the three teams still trying to push the European Super League.
Of course the Spanish media also took the news really well, with El Chiringuito TV reacting in typically measured fashion - which might all be a bit sarcastic.

The player himself was clearly very happy with his new three year deal, and celebrated in perfect fashion, with a hat-trick in PSG's last game of the season.
