Mikel Arteta is keen to bring the Ajax defender to north London as he attempts to bolster his back line ahead of a busy Champions League schedule next season.
While their initial £30 million offer was turned down by the Dutch club, Arsenal appear to be making ground in their pursuit of the Netherlands international.

"I’m glad there’s going to be more competition," Kiwior told Polish outlet Meczyki when asked about the possibility of incoming signings, before asking the reporter: "Who’s coming?"
After being informed that Timber could be heading to the Emirates, Kiwior replied: "It’s great that he’s joining"
"Let the best players play at Arsenal. Let’s win matches and win trophies together."
