Julian Alvarez reportedly wants to leave Manchester City, less than a year after he and Erling Haaland arrived at the Premier League.
It seems somewhat incredible that Haaland had already passed the mark to win last year's Golden Boot in England's top tier by the end of January, and yet the Norwegian continues to be questioned.
Because Pep Guardiola's side aren't running away with the league, as they often do, the arrival of the striker has been accused as being the issue.

One pundit even claimed that City looked like they were playing with 10 men when the former Borussia Dortmund player, a player with 27 league goals to date...
One more genuine problem for Guardiola is being able to find time not to pick Haaland, considering just how lethal the 22-year-old has been upfront.
And that means a whole lot less football for World Cup winning forward Alvarez than he might have been hoping for, especially after being so integral to Argentina's success at the end of last year.

Now Spanish outlet El Chiringuito have claimed that the 23-year-old has informed the Etihad side that he wants to leave the club in the summer.
There had been talk of him potentially going out on loan, according to Sport Witness, but the latest report is that he wants leave permanently already.
Alvarez was signed by City back in January 2022 but spent the rest of the season on loan at River Plate, where they signed him from.

He has played 19 times in the league for the defending champions so far but only six of those games has been in the starting line up.
The Argentina star started nearly as many games in the World Cup, despite initially just being a squad player, before replacing Lautaro Martinez as a starter.
He hit the headlines for his form during the tournament, being compared favourably to Haaland, but after it the news followed him in a bizarre incident that led to fans signing a petition for him to dump his partner.
Despite signing him to a five year deal just over a year ago, the club are actually in the middle of trying to get him to sign a new contract.

That could prove tricky if he's decided that he wants to leave, with his lack of first team football down to Haaland getting in his way.
