The nominees for the 2024 Yashin Trophy have now been announced, with several top goalkeepers missing out.
The prestigious trophy is presented annually by French outlet France Football to the best performing goalkeeper in world football.
The award is named after legendary Soviet Union international Lev Yashin, who remains the only goalkeeper to have ever won the Ballon d'Or – having claimed it back in 1963.

The Yashin Trophy winner is selected by former Ballon d'Or holders, with last year's award going to Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
The nominees for the 2024 award have now been announced and have already sparked fierce debate on social media.
Ten goalkeepers have been put forward for the award; Diogo Costa (FC Porto), Gianluigi Donnarumma (Paris Saint-Germain), Gregor Kobel (Borussia Dortmund), Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid), Mike Maignan (AC Milan), Giorgi Mamardashvili (Valencia), Emiliano Martinez (Aston Villa), Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao), Yann Sommer (Inter Milan) and Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns).
But it is the omission of one goalkeeper, Liverpool's Alisson, that has created the most headlines.

The Brazil international made 32 appearances for the Reds last season, keeping 11 clean sheets in the process, although he missed part of the season with a hamstring injury.
He has made a strong start to the new campaign, keeping three clean sheets in Liverpool's opening three matches in the Premier League.
Furious fans have questioned why the 31-year-old, who won the Yashin Award in 2019, has not been nominated for it again this year.
"It seems they have something against our players," posted one angry Liverpool fan on X.

Another added: "This is pretty consistently a joke."
While a third wrote: "Allison is the best keeper but they won't give him because he didn't win top prizes it's that simple."
However, other fans say they understand why Alisson may have been overlooked for the award.

"Was injured most of last season let's learn to stop crying over everything," wrote one.
While another posted: "No Ederson or [David] Raya either so I wouldn't take any notice."
The 2024 Yashin Trophy winner will be officially announced at the Ballon d'Or ceremony on Monday, October 28.
