Wrexham look set to beat a Championship club and complete one of their most ambitious deals under the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney regime.
Since completing their takeover in 2021, the Wrexham co-owners have not been afraid to splash the cash on a slew of big-name additions.
In the summer alone the Red Dragons splurged £500,000 on midfielder Ollie Rathbone from Rotherham, as well as the reported £590,000 capture of Mo Faal - said to be a club-record deal.

They haven't been too active in the January transfer market but that could be about to change, with top target Hull City's Ryan Longman heavily rumoured to be on his way to the STok Racecourse.
Jason Burt of The Telegraph has reported that Longman, whose contract is up in the summer window, is poised to sign for Wrexham in a deal worth £500,000.
Oxford United of the Championship were in the race to sign the 24-year-old but have been outbid by Wrexham, who are third in League One after 26 games.

Oxford boss Gary Rowett managed Longman at Millwall last season when the winger spent time on loan. He has now conceded that the two will not be reunited this month.
“He’s a player that I’ve worked with before," he said, as per Oxford Mail.
"I think he’s got obvious qualities. He was a player we were certainly interested in, but I don’t expect us to do that deal and sign that player.
“We’ve had lots of targets and lots of deals that we’re potentially trying to get down the line. Certainly he was just one of those."

Longman came through the ranks at Brighton and Hove Albion before signing for Hull, where he's played 81 times and scored eight goals.
His versatility is a huge plus for Wrexham as he can play as a striker, winger and wing-back - which would be of huge benefit given Phil Parkinson's side typically play with a back three.
Wrexham are back in action on Thursday night when they host league leaders Birmingham City in a huge clash which will be shown in the United States because of the American owners at the helm.
