Wrexham's biggest nemesis might help them secure huge second transfer of the summer

Wrexham's biggest nemesis might help them secure huge second transfer of the summer

Wrexham are being linked with a forward.

One of Wrexham's biggest nemeses could help them secure their second transfer of the summer.

Wrexham confirmed their first signing of the summer last weekend following last season's promotion to League One.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are working behind the scenes to bring another talent through the doors ahead of the new campaign.

According to social media speculation, the Welsh outfit have lodged an undisclosed bid for Doncaster forward Joe Ironside, who scored 17 goals across all competitions last season.

And Doncaster have already moved to replace Ironside by recruiting Billy Sharp as his replacement.

It will be Sharp's fourth spell at Doncaster during his storied career.

He's inadvertently helping Wrexham, having launched a stinging attack at the club following an explosive FA Cup clash in the 2022/23 season.

Sharp, playing for Sheffield United at the time, scored in a 3-1 win as the veteran forward clashed with Wrexham players and coaches that day.

So much so, his antics made it into Wrexham's documentary.

Speaking to Ben Foster on his podcast, the 38-year-old explained what went down following Sheff United's victory over Wrexham.

"I got Man of the Match. I had to go straight on and right to this room," he revealed. "There were loads of cameras for the documentary.

"So, I’m trying to go straight on and up the stairs, it gets tighter. The Wrexham players think 'what’s he doing, he should be going left'. I get that. This camera guy shoots out, probably didn’t think I was coming because he thought I was going left as well. I nearly fall over him and push him out the way. The Wrexham lads kicked off a little bit."

Sharp added: "There were too many people there and nobody knew what was going on. Robbo [Jack Robinson] has come in, a few other people. There’s shouting, handbags, nothing really happened. I said it would probably make good TV and they put it in the documentary.

"I said 'stick that up your documentary’s arse', or something like that, and I had a laugh as I said it. A few more are having a go. I darted in my little place where I had this interview. I probably shouldn’t have done it, I should have calmed down as emotions are high and things were just being said."
