Burn's potential call-up has opened up following the season-ending injury to his teammate, Lewis Hall, who suffered a foot injury against Liverpool.
This season, Burn has made 35 appearances across all competitions, including 27 league games.
He is set to feature for The Magpies when they face Liverpool on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium, which will be his last game before the international break.
