Rodri aimed brutal two-word taunt at Vinicius Jr in now-deleted video during Ballon d'Or celebrations

Rodri aimed brutal two-word taunt at Vinicius Jr in now-deleted video during Ballon d'Or celebrations

A video of Rodri taunting Vinicius Jr has since been deleted.

Rodri aimed a brutal taunt at Vinicius Jr in a now-deleted video during his Ballon d'Or celebrations.

Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d'Or on Monday, beating Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal.

The Manchester City man took home the prestigious individual prize against all the odds, angering the Spanish giants as they expected the Brazilian international to claim the award.

The club boycotted the event as a sign of solidarity with their superstar winger after hearing the verdict.

Rodri, on the other hand, was in attendance to collect the Ballon d'Or as he became Man City's first-ever winner of the award.

During his acceptance speech, he appeared to mock Real in a taunt that didn't go unnoticed among fans.

And during a post-ceremony dinner, the midfielder continued to go off on Vinicius Jr, singing: "Vini ciao, Vini ciao, ciao, ciao!"

Man City uploaded the video on social media but swiftly removed the post.

Vinicius Jr misses out on this year's Ballon d'Or despite scoring an impressive 24 goals across all competitions last season.

Pep Guardiola, meanwhile, congratulated his star player and said he's proud of the Euro 2024 winner.

"First of all, of course congratulations to him and all his family and friends," he said.

"It’s incredible news for him and of course for all of us, all at City and our fans. We’re so proud of him. It’s the first time.

"We could never have imagined years ago that one player would receive this prestigious award. We are so delighted to be part of it and to share it with him and yes, hopefully it can give him energy to recover well for next season and be with us again."

Rodri has been integral in Man City's success since joining the club in the summer of 2019.

But, unfortunately for Guardiola and fans alike, he won't be available for the Blues for the remainder of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Arsenal.
