Real Madrid star slams Arsenal in incredibly salty interview after their Champions League defeat

Real Madrid were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal on Wednesday night.

Real Madrid star Lucas Vazquez pulled no punches as he criticised Arsenal after Los Blancos were sent packing in the Champions League.

On Wednesday night, Los Blancos arrived at the Bernabeu with a monumental task to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit against Arsenal.

Despite all the fighting talk before the match, the Madrid players were second best again as goals from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli sealed a 2-1 win, Vinicius Jr was the scorer for the hosts.

As a result, Arsenal advanced to the last four and will take on French giants Paris Saint Germain.

On the other side of the draw, Barcelona will take on Inter Milan after the Italian outfit knocked out German powerhouse Bayern Munich.

Speaking after the match, Madrid star Vazquez slammed Arsenal's approach, claiming they 'did almost nothing'.

As reported by The Mirror, the Spaniard told Movistar+: "It's a difficult moment. I think we tried today. It was a complicated match. We didn't have all the chances we would have liked.

"We didn't lose sight of the goal. There were interruptions [but] it didn't happen."

Vazquez added: "Maybe we lacked more clarity. More patience.

"They came to defend, to play their role. In the first half, they did almost nothing. In the second, with the team pressing, they found the victory."

Vazquez ended the interview by making a promise to the Madrid fanbase, he said: "Thank you for the atmosphere you created. Real Madrid will always return. Not everything is lost. There is a lot of season left. The team is united and eager to achieve what's left."

Looking ahead, Madrid still have two chances of winning a major trophy.

They are currently four points behind bitter rivals Barcelona in the La Liga standings with seven matches left to play.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti's men are also in the final of the Copa del Rey, where they will face Barcelona again.

Madrid will return to La Liga action this weekend when they take on Athletic Club on Sunday night.
