Peter and Kasper Schmeichel shared the most wholesome interview of Euro 2024

Peter and Kasper Schmeichel shared the most wholesome interview of Euro 2024

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel interviewed son Kasper after he helped Denmark in their Euro 2024 draw with England.

Peter Schmeichel interviewed son Kasper after Denmark's draw with England on Thursday in the most wholesome moment at Euro 2024.

Kasper, now plying his trade with Belgium side Anderlecht, captained his country to a 1-1 draw against England.

Harry Kane scored past the former Leicester City and Manchester City shotstopper in the 18th minute but Morten Hjulmand levelled matters with a superb strike from distance.

The spoils were ultimately shared in Frankfurt and England missed out on the chance to qualify for the last 16 as Group C winners.

Schmeichel Jr made a smart save to deny Ollie Watkins late on and then participated in post-match media duties.

But one was with his famous father, who won the Euros back in 1992 with Denmark.

He had initially been on the Fox panel in Los Angeles before jetting out to Germany.

And during the chat with Kasper, the 60-year-old told his son, "I do post-match interviews and a lot of interviews with players but I never do this,".

He then proceeded to open his arms and embrace his child in a beautiful moment.

Kasper handed over his "sweaty" match-worn shirt from the game, a gesture which Peter described as "fantastic" before the two walked off camera in opposite directions.

The video has racked up 2.5 million views on X.

"I am very proud," Kasper said on Denmark's display against England.

"That's the Denmark I know. We didn't win, but the expression of the game, the fight, the heart, the fans, that's the real Denmark.

"There is always a tinge of disappointment when we don't win, but when you look on reflection of the game it is probably a fair result."

Denmark take on Serbia on Tuesday, with England coming up against Slovenia in their final group fixture.
