Danish Superliga outfit FC Nordsjælland made European history this week with a group-stage exit that we may never see again.
Johannes Thorup's side were eliminated from this season's Europa Conference League on Thursday after the Tigrene suffered a 1-0 defeat to Group H opponents Ludogorets.
A 79th minute goal from Jakub Piotrowski handed second-place Ludogorets a place in the knockout stage alongside the likes of Aston Villa, Fiorentina, Dinamo Zagreb and Fenerbahce.

But it was heartache for the visiting Nordsjælland, who somehow managed to get themselves eliminated with 17 scored goals in six games, and a goal difference of +10.
In fact, we've checked every Champions League, UEFA Cup, Europa League and Conference League campaign with the group-stage format, and the Danes have officially recorded an unwanted record.
Nordsjælland have, to their despair, entered the history books as the club to have the highest goal difference and still get knocked out.

So how did it happen? Thorup's men averaged 2.84 goals per game, conceded just 1.17 each match and recorded an average of 53.5 per cent possession in this season's competition.
They also recorded three wins, including a 7-1 victory over Ludogorets and a 6-1 win over Fenerbahce, who would eventually top Group H with 12 points from a possible 18.
But two defeats and a draw meant their +10 goal difference was meaningless.
X account Football In Denmark reacted to Nordsjælland's unfortunate elimination after the full-time whistle in Bulgaria. "Brutal result for FC Nordsjælland in Bulgaria as they lose 1-0," they wrote.

"The result means they crash out of the group stages despite notching 10 points, scoring the most and conceding the least. A real shame not to see them in the knockouts."
Nordsjælland manager Johannes Thorup was understandably frustrated after Thursday's result.
"I stand with a bitter feeling," he told the club's official website. "It's annoying. We weren't a team that was going to lose that football game today, so that makes it extra annoying."

He added: "We must use the learning we have gained through this autumn, which has been hard, and it has been intense, but also great, and we must remember that.
"We have to use the whole experience in a positive way, so we can be that much sharper and that much better next time around."
