Arsenal and Chelsea target Nico Williams 'makes decision' on his future that has stunned everyone

Spain winger Nico Williams has been heavily linked with a move away from Athletic Bilbao this summer.

Nico Williams has stunned fans with a decision on his future following a stunning Euro 2024 campaign with Spain.

The Athletic Club winger scored twice, including the opening goal in the final against England, as La Roja went all the way.

He has become a man in demand, with the likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain all circling for Williams.

The 22-year-old emerged as a top target for the club thanks in part to his relatively cheap £49 million release clause.

But it looks as though the saga has come to a conclusion, with MARCA reporting that Williams has already made a decision on where he will be playing his football next season.

According to journalist Daniel Sobis, Williams will be an Athletic player next season and resist the temptation to move for pastures new.

If the information is true, he will therefore continue playing with older brother Inaki for another season.

Athletic will also be playing in next season's Europa League after winning the 2024 Copa del Rey with a victory over Real Mallorca in the final on penalties.

The final, incidentally, is at their San Mames stadium and fans will be dreaming of a triumph on home soil.

Williams joined the Basque outfit's academy before making his first-team debut alongside his brother in 2020.

He has quickly developed into one of the most exciting wingers around and if he does remain at Athletic, he is almost definitely in line for a substantial pay rise.

Given time off after their Euro 2024 exploits, Williams has been holidaying in Marbella with fellow starlet Lamine Yamal, who has made no secret of his desire for his friend to join him at the Blaugrana.

"Yes, I think we play well together. But this question is more for him,” he told Mundo Deportivo in June.

“We don’t talk [about a move to Barcelona] much. We try to have a good time because in the end we only see each other in the national team.”
