Troy Deeney caused an uproar with the traveling Newcastle supporters at The Emirates following what he said about the city.
Newcastle stunned Arsenal in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final, as they sprinted out of the blocks to take a 2-0 lead to St James Park next month.
Goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon proved to be the difference, despite Mikel Arteta's having countless chances to get on the scoresheet.

Prior to the game, Deeney who was working with American broadcaster CBS, got into some heated exchanges with Toon supporters inside The Emirates.
Speaking pitchside Geoff Shreeves, revealed the reason behind the discontent between Deeney and the the Newcastle faithful.

"He was absolutely savaged by Newcastle United fans, this lady took great exception to something he said on CBS about Newcastle not being a nice place to live," Shreeves said.
Deeney wasn't in the mood to take his comments back, and stood by his original assessment of the city.
"Weren't lying," Deeney said without hesitation.
The former Watford striker then revealed he was on the broadcast for free, and made a pretty obvious hint he would like to change that.

"More importantly I am doing this for free yet again, so if we could change that."
Deeney isn't the first person to take issue with the Geography of Newcastle, with former goalkeeper Loris Karius' wife calling the city 'inconvenient' in 2024.
"Newcastle is very inconvenient because there are no direct flights. Neither about Paris nor about Amsterdam," she explained during his time at the club.

"I live in Milan, so let's say being close to Milan would be ideal for us. I always tell him, players who come to Serie A then fall in love with Italy and often stay there forever."
