Allan Saint-Maximin has urged fans to show "gratitude and respect" towards one of his former teammates after they were blamed for Newcastle United's current PSR situation.
The Magpies must make a hefty sale before the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules deadline on June 30 or risk a potential points deduction for next season.
It looks increasingly likely that a deal to offload Gambia international Yankuba Minte will help ease the club's PSR situation amid rumours surrounding Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak.

The situation has been a huge talking point this summer, with many having their thoughts, including one account on social media who brought up Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron.
Almiron was the subject of interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab in January but the Paraguayan was never sold on the transfer, according to iNews, who claim he is settled in the north-East with his young family.
"It’s worth mentioning that if Miguel Almiron didn’t refuse a £25 million move to Saudi Arabia in January, #NUFC wouldn’t find themselves in the PSR mess that they do today," the account wrote.

"Suppose you could say the same about Yankuba Minteh refusing a £40m move to Lyon last week, too.
"So what I’ll say is this - NEVER forget the man who reluctantly agreed to move on out of his love for the club and his understanding of what was needed for Newcastle United to move forward on AND off the pitch."
The account added: "Some of our current crop of players should take notice of Allan Saint-Maximin’s sacrifice."
Saint-Maximin, a fan favourite at St James' Park, left Newcastle last summer to join Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli on a three-year deal.

But despite being praised for his so-called "sacrifice", the Frenchman has now responded to the post with a message of his own.
"I know this message is meant to be positive towards me, but every situation is different," he said. "Please show gratitude and respect to Miggy, he’s such a good person who has always given his all for Newcastle."
Newcastle, meanwhile, are not looking to sell Almiron, according to the player's agent, Daniel Campos.

Speaking to ABC Cardinal in Paraguay, Campos said: “Premier League clubs have asked about him but Newcastle don’t want to sell. The Saudi Arabian market is hovering. There may be news [later this summer] but he is comfortable.”
