Naby Keita's career reaches new low after Liverpool exit as latest club makes drastic decision

Naby Keita has found it tough after leaving Liverpool last summer.

Naby Keita’s career has taken another turn for the worse after his exit from Liverpool.

Back in 2018, Keita became one of Jurgen Klopp’s most expensive Liverpool transfers when he moved from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in a deal worth a reported fee of £53 million.

However, the Guinea captain’s Anfield career was badly hampered by injuries as he only managed a total of 129 appearances across five seasons, scoring 11 goals.

At the end of the 22/23 season, Keita left Liverpool upon the expiration of the contract and returned to Germany to sign for Werder Bremen.

As a Liverpool player, Keita got his hands on the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the FA Community Shield.

During the 23/24 campaign, Keita was suspended by the club after ‘refusing to get on the team bus’.

In total, the midfielder made five appearances for Bremen across all competitions, scoring zero goals.

With the summer transfer window in full flow, it has been announced that Keita will now look for a new club.

Taking to social media, Bremen wrote: “Naby Keïta will not return to first-team training, and will instead continue to train individually as he searches for a new opportunity elsewhere.”

Keita was involved in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games as he was picked for the Guinea football squad and was also the flag bearer for his country during the opening ceremony on the River Seine.

After Keita left Liverpool, Klopp said: “Naby is an exceptional footballer, what a player he is. Maybe one or two injuries too many just hindered him from getting really through.

“But if you go through – and I would really recommend that – if you go through our really big games of Liverpool FC you might be surprised how often Naby was in the starting line-up and how often he played incredibly well.”
