Player forced out of Liverpool by Jurgen Klopp voted 'flop of the season' at new club

The former Liverpool man has hit a new low.

A former Liverpool player signed by Jurgen Klopp has hit a new low after being voted the ‘flop of the season’ at his new club.

During his time at Anfield, a lot of Klopp’s transfers have turned out very well.

For example, the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson all went on to become some of the finest players in world football.

However, there were a few signings which did not turn out so well, one of them was midfielder Naby Keita.

Back in the summer of 2018, Liverpool signed Keita from RB Leipzig in a deal worth a reported fee of £53 million.

The Guinea international was badly hampered by injuries during his time on Merseyside, making a total of 129 appearances across five seasons, scoring 11 goals.

Eventually, Keita left the club last summer after his contract expired. The 29-year-old then returned to Germany as he signed for Werder Bremen.

However, Keita endured another tough season as he only managed five appearances and was suspended by the club after ‘refusing to get on the team bus’.

Now, it has been claimed that Keita has hit a new low after being voted the flop of the season by fellow Bundesliga players.

As reported by The Mirror, 27 players from the German top flight took part in a survey for the Kicker magazine and Keita was voted worst player after receiving 25.6% of the votes.

After leaving Anfield as a winner of the Premier League and Champions League, Klopp said: “Naby is an exceptional footballer, what a player he is. Maybe one or two injuries too many just hindered him from getting really through.

“But if you go through – and I would really recommend that – if you go through our really big games of Liverpool FC you might be surprised how often Naby was in the starting line-up and how often he played incredibly well.”
