Mesut Ozil is among a spate of stars to have invested in Wrexham, it has been claimed.
On Monday ESPN claimed Wrexham’s Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney had purchased a minority stake in Mexican top-flight outfit Necaxa.
In the process, Reynolds and McElhenney reportedly join a spate of fellow celebrities who have recently bought stakes in the Liga MX.

Indeed, the likes of actress Eva Longoria, ex-Germany World Cup winner Ozil, model Kate Upton, and NFL star Odell Beckham Jr. are among the famous mains to have invested in Necaxa in recent years.
However, as part of Reynolds and McElhenney’s takeover, Sportico subsequently alleged that Necaxa’s famous backers have simultaneously purchased 5 per cent of Wrexham.
The publication noted that a recent Wrexham filing implied that the club had sold a 5 per cent stake, but didn’t specify the buyers.

A representative for Wrexham didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
Wrexham secured their second successive promotion earlier this month, with the club set to play in League One next term.
At the weekend, the Welsh outfit toasted promotion to the third tier with a final-day win over League Two champions Stockport.
Manager Phil Parkinson said: "Five wins to finish the season is great from the lads. It was important we finished the season well.

"We spoke last week about rewarding our away travelling army and this week [we did the same] - we've got a very proud home record here.
"We wanted to finish the season in style and we were able to do that with an excellent second-half display.
"When the key fixtures have arrived, we've really cranked it up and put in some good performances. That's really important to produce when the crunch time of the season arrives."

Necaxa were once a powerhouse of Mexican football, having clinched three of their La Liga MX titles in the Nineties.
However, they have struggled to replicate such heights since the turn of the century, having last term finished at the foot of the table.
