Roy Keane has delivered a typical Roy Keane response to Manchester United’s decision to sack Erik ten Hag.
On Monday morning, it was confirmed that the Ten Hag era has come to an abrupt end at Old Trafford.
A statement on United’s official website said: “Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager. Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.”
Responding to the news, former United captain and club legend Keane took to Instagram and posted a selfie with a caption that read: “In good teams, coaches hold players accountable. In great teams, players hold players accountable.”
Dutchman Ten Hag leaves United having won the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup during his spell in charge.

However, the form in the Premier League was the main concern, with the team currently in 14th place after Sunday’s 2-1 defeat against West Ham United at the London Stadium.
Former striker and Ten Hag’s assistant, Rudd van Nistelrooy will now take temporary charge while United look for their next permanent manager.
Reacting to the news, former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher said: “The style of play was the biggest thing for me. Not necessarily the results - they're always the most important in some ways, but you've got to think where the team is going.
“It hasn't been a disaster, he won two trophies in two years but the style of football, how easy they are to play against, there was no way they were ever going to be in contention for the Premier League or Champions League.”
He added: “That's where they should be. They've got no divine right but they should be competing for them. Even watching his team, they were getting over the line but you knew it was a short-term fix. It was never going to be enough to compete with the top teams.

“I said numerous times last season, they were the easiest team in the league to play against when you consider the size of the club and the money spent. You look at Crystal Palace, playing Liverpool numerous times and the amount of goals they conceded.”
