Rio Ferdinand sends Man Utd fans into meltdown with post days before transfer deadline

Rio Ferdinand got Manchester United fans online excited.

Rio Ferdinand has sent Manchester United fans into meltdown with his cryptic social media post just days before the transfer deadline.

Man United remain in the market for new talent, having already signed Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

And the Red Devils are closing in on the transfer of Manuel Ugarte, who sent fans into a frenzy with his post online amid his £42.3 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

Other names have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford ahead of Friday's transfer deadline.

One of them being Chelsea's Raheem Sterling, which could see Jadon Sancho go the other way.

Sterling has been the subject of intense transfer speculation as his future appears to lie away from Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of Man United making a potential move for the star forward, Ferdinand got fans online talking with his post on X.

On Tuesday, he took to social media to share a gif of himself, accompanied with an hourglass emoji.

Needless to say, people were all over Ferdinand's post as some of them are convinced the club are set to sign Sterling.

One X user wrote: "It’s Sterling isn’t it."

A second said: "Raheem the dream at the theatre of dreams."

A third added: "Yeah we have signed Sterling."

A fourth commented: "Raheem coming to Old Trafford. Let's gooo."

Another joked: "It's probably got to do with him doing a podcast with Ronaldo or something."

Sterling has emerged as a shock Man United transfer target after he was made surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca at Chelsea.

Speaking after the Blues' Europa Conference League qualifier against Servette, Maresca said: "The only thing I can say is that I try to be honest with all of them in this moment, the noise is from outside.

"More than 15 players are training apart, they are not with the team.

"I spoke with Raheem [Sterling] before Manchester City, I said that he is going to struggle to get minutes with us."
