Manchester United fans are not happy after it was revealed what the club refused to pay to bring Mathys Tel to Old Trafford.
Throughout the January transfer window, United were linked with several top talents from across Europe, but with just hours left until the deadline, it appears that defender Patrick Dorgu will be their only major signing.
Amid reports that United were hoping to sign a forward this month, the Red Devils were heavily linked with Bayern Munich star Tel, but a deal never materialised.

And now. details of why United were not able to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford have emerged, and fans are not happy.
Despite earlier reports that he had previously rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur, it now appears that Tel will make the move to London in the final hours of the transfer window.
United did reportedly come close at agreeing a deal, but The Telegraph's James Ducker has now revealed that a £5million loan fee demanded by Bayern is what stopped United from submitting a formal offer.

Posting on X, the journalist wrote: "No further incomings expected at MUFC before deadline. United baulked at the £5m loan fee Bayern demanded for Mathys Tel - considered expensive risk for largely unproven 19yo.
With Marcus Rashford and Antony both leaving on loan and young strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to impress, many United fans felt that signing a forward was essential, leading to frustrations online.
Reacting to the news, one fan wrote: "Given he’s the right age profile of what they’re looking at, 5 million gamble to see if he’s good enough feels like an insane opportunity to turn down."

While another added: "If that is true, then that's poor business considering that 2 of our strikers are firing blanks. Garnacho can hardly dribble past anyone these days. United are heavily reliant on Bruno and Amad."
But one fan admitted they think passing on Tel was the right call, writing: "Five million for a player to take three months to get use to premier league and then go back to Bayern? Yeah thank fully united have football people making football decisions."
