Barcelona have responded to Manchester United’s asking price for Mason Greenwood, it has been claimed.
Greenwood left United for Getafe on loan in the final hour of last summer’s transfer window, having not played for the Old Trafford club since his January 2022 arrest for attempted rape, controlling behaviour and assault.
While the 22-year-old, who vehemently denied the accusations, had all charges against him dropped, United opted not to reintegrate him back into the first team and he was subsequently sent out on loan.

And earlier this week United’s football director John Murtough and head of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves reportedly met with Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco and two CAA Base agents, Frank Tramboli and Fede Massai, in Spain.
Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo claimed that United held talks over a potential deal for Greenwood and wanted to get a read on Barcelona’s interest.
Yet the report added that Barcelona have made it clear they will not meet United’s valuation of the player, believed to be between £34.2million and £51.3million.

While Greenwood will likely be sold, United’s co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe left the door ajar for the striker’s return in an interview last month.
Speaking to the Athletic, Ratcliffe said: "We need to look at facts, judge fairly and take into consideration what the values of the club are.
“Then we come out of that with a decision. It is not appropriate for me to comment on Mason Greenwood."

Meanwhile, Gareth Southgate has insisted the one-cap England international is not currently being considered by the Three Lions.
The England boss said earlier this week: "Well for me I don’t think it’s something for pre-Euros. I think allowing him to get his career going again abroad appears to have been a good move but I have to say I have not tracked it closely.
"I think at this moment in time it would be a big distraction for the team and let’s see where that leads next season. I would need to know more details about the whole thing before it was an option."
