Mark Goldbridge furious after hearing what Man Utd chief 'told staff' while 'announcing up to 200 more redundancies'

The Manchester United superfan was not happy after hearing the latest rumours.

Manchester United superfan Mark Goldbridge has hit out at the club on social media after learning what a top INEOS chief told staff when making them redundant.

On Monday, United released an official statement announcing their plan to transform the club to improve financial stability and bring them closer to challenging for trophies regularly again.

Alongside the statement, the club have said that they expect 150-200 jobs to be made redundant just months 250 members of staff lost their jobs in the summer.

Following on from the news, several other details of exactly what is happening behind the scenes at United have emerged, and the latest report has left Goldbridge furious.

On Tuesday morning, a report from The Athletic's Laurie Whitwell revealed that United CEO held a meeting with club staff just 30 minutes before the transformation plan was announced.

The meeting is said to have lasted between 20 minutes and half an hour, and while Berrada didn't confirm that 150-200 jobs could be cut until a later email, he explained that the new measures had been calculated under the assumption that United qualify for the Europa League for the next four years.

Reacting to the shocking report, Goldbridge took to X, writing: "Berrada telling staff they're losing their jobs because they expect to be in Europa for next 4 years!!! At what point do fans start doing what Liverpool did when they had owners destroying their club?"

While Goldbridge and many other fans are outraged at the idea of United competing in the Europa League rather than the Champions League for the foreseeable future, with United currently sitting 15th in the Premier League, things could end up being a lot worse at United.

In all likelihood, Ruben Amorim will need to rely on once again winning the FA Cup if they hope to qualify for next season’s Europa League.

Meanwhile winning the current Europa League could provide United with an opportunity to return to the Champions League next season.

Addressing the redundancies in his press conference ahead of Wednesday's match against Ipswich Town, Amorim said: "We have to address all the problems in the club. One important piece is how we got into this situation.

'It has a lot to do with the lack of success of the team. We are the engine of the club. I just want to improve the team and have success."
