Mark Goldbridge responds to Marcus Rashford's statement on fan abuse and it's got everyone talking

Marcus Rashford has hit out at the abuse directed at him from fans.

Mark Goldbridge has responded to Marcus Rashford’s statement on fan abuse.

Rashford has endured a difficult season as Manchester United continue to perform way below expectations.

The 26-year-old has only scored eight goals in 42 matches across all competitions in the 23/24 season.

As a result, the England international has often been on the end of heavy criticism from fans.

After one fan wrote on social media: “The way Marcus Rashford is being treated is absolutely disgusting. It's cruel. It's abuse,” Rashford hit back at the abuse as he replied: “I appreciate your support. It is abuse and has been for months. Enough is enough.”

Now, popular YouTuber and United fan Goldbridge has responded to Rashford’s statement.

He said: “I might shock you here, I’ve got a lot to say on it but I actually agree with Rashford on the abuse.

“What’s happened to him? Is this the real Goldbridge or is it AI that’s been told to be pro-Rashford.”

Goldbridge continued: “It’s the real one. Look, it does hurt. In life, not everything is red and green, it’s everything in between and sometimes abuse is happening to Marcus Rashford.

“The problem here is, criticism is not abuse. Saying you want to drop him, saying you want to sell him is not abuse. To call somebody out for their performances, say they look like they can’t be a**ed, say that they’re overpaid, say that they want to be dropped, say that you’d sell them, that’s not abuse.

“What is abuse is saying ‘f**k off Rashford or ‘Rashford’s faking injury’, calling him ‘Trashford’ and stuff like that. There’s different levels of abuse there but that is unfounded, unfair and not right. Now I think if you’re in a football ground and Rashford misses a chance and you go ‘Oh f**k off Rashford’, that’s not abuse, that is just instant passion.”

Reacting to Goldbridge, one fan wrote on social media: “He's right but he should do well.”

Another tweeted: “There are ways of calling people out and ways of not calling them out we all get heated we all get carried away it’s never going to be a behaviour utopia but we need to take a step back at times.”

A third fan added: “The fan base always needs its scapegoats. This season it’s been Onana, then Bruno, then Rashford, then Antony and now Rashford again.”
