Ben Foster has revealed who out of his former Manchester United teammates “wasn’t really interested” in going to the gym during his time at the club.
Foster, 41, signed for United, who were managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, in 2005 and made 23 appearances for the club before really making his name in the Premier League with Birmingham City, West Bromwich Albion and Watford before retiring after a stint at Wrexham in 2023.
And despite featuring sporadically during his time at the Red Devils, the former England international still shared a dressing room with world-class talents such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs, just to name a few.

In a recent episode of his podcast, the ‘Fozcast’, he spoke about footballers’ exercise habits.
Foster claimed that Troy Deeney was the strongest player he had ever played with, but who else was a gym enthusiast?
The 41-year-old revealed that some players tend to hit the gym towards the end of the season to look good on the beach during their summer holidays, while others were consistent and used the gym facilities to help their footballing ability.
“I’ve had so many players who would go in the gym and not do anything,” said Foster after explaining how “the posers” are known as “the busies”.

The conversation then switched to his time at United.
“Every single one of them [used to go to the gym], I’m not even joking,” Foster explained when asked who out of his former Man Utd teammates made sure they worked out.
“Everyone single one of them, apart from Paul Scholes.

“Paul Scholes wasn’t really interested in that, but he wasn’t trying to be… he didn’t need to. He did his talking on the football pitch.
“He was a man of very few words, but the words he would say would be out on the football pitch.”
Ironically, Scholes, 50, opened a gym alongside his children, Arron and Alicia, in his hometown of Oldham in 2022.
Speaking to the MEN in 2022, the former United midfielder explained how he still tries to keep “reasonably fit” and calls “into the gym three of four times a week,” alongside playing a lot of badminton.
