Ruben Amorim may look to bring in a highly-rated Serie A star to ‘replace’ Casemiro in January.
Amorim, 39, will take charge of his first game as head coach of United on Sunday afternoon as the Red Devils travel to Portman Road, where they will face Premier League strugglers Ipswich Town.
The Portuguese started in his new role on Monday, November 11, and was greeted by various members of the club’s hierarchy at Carrington Training Centre.

This week, he has overseen training and even appeared to join in with a few of the sessions himself.
Eagle-eyed fans have paid close attention to training footage released by the clue as they try and piece together his first possible starting XI.
Only ten first-team players were available for his first session due to several United men being away on international duty.

However, one player who was present all week was Brazilian Casemiro.
The former Real Madrid man has often come under criticism during his time at Old Trafford, with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher famously saying, “Leave the football before the football leaves you” after Casemiro performed poorly during a 4-0 defeat against Crystal Palace in March 2024.
Although the midfielder will no doubt want to be part of Amorim’s plans, the club have been linked with a move for a fellow Brazilian in the January transfer window.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the club are “discussing” and “considering” Atalanta centre-midfielder Ederson, 25, who has impressed in the Italian top flight in recent times.

The player is contracted to the Bergamo-based side until 2027 but could still be brought in as early as the January transfer window.
Ederson was integral in Atalanta’s 2023-24 Europa League triumph – starting against Bayer Leverkusen in the 3-0 final victory in Dublin, Ireland.
He has continued his impressive form this term, having already played 17 times for the Italians, who sit second in Serie A behind leader Napoli.

Sources in Italy, according to the I, have suggested Man City may be interested with the player “open to a move” if a fee could be agreed.
It is reported by Calciomercato that a transfer fee of around €60m (£49.9m) may be enough for Atalanta to part ways with the player.
