Mark Goldbridge reacts to Erik ten Hag sacking and says one thing 'cannot happen' at Man Utd now he's gone

The popular Manchester United YouTuber gave his thoughts.

Manchester United fan and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge has reacted to Erik ten Hag’s sacking but has explained how one particular thing ‘cannot happen’ when United recruit a new boss.

Ten Hag, 54, was relieved of his duties as manager of United on Monday morning. The club confirmed the news via a statement posted on their official website.

The likes of ex-players Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra were among the first to react to the news.

However, fans were keen to find out Goldbridge’s take on the situation.

“It’s sad,” he said while speaking on The United Stand.

“Actually, I’m very glad that…last night I sort of accepted it because I think it’s just time [for Ten Hag to leave].

“Whether you’ve been Ten Hag out for months or whether you’ve just accepted it in the last 24 hours, I think everybody’s on the same page that it just couldn’t continue in this situation.

“This feeling that the club wasn’t going anywhere.”

"I think certain players…surely have to be looked at,” he added.

“How many managers have they actually played for?”

“But it’s always going to be the manager that gets sacked,” he explained.

“You can’t sack Marcus Rashford, you can’t sack Bruno Fernandes, you can’t sack Casemiro…I’m just throwing random names there.”

The YouTuber then weighed in with his thoughts on what United should avoid when pursuing their next permanent manager – Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge on an interim basis.

Goldbridge explained how INEOS have to show United fans “what the new era is”.

“What the new era cannot be is Ole Gunnar Solskjær,” he said.

“And I don’t mean Ole, I mean that era. Ruud [van Nistelrooy] comes in, we win a couple of games, and the fans have a responsibility here as well.

“I do not want to see us win the next three games and everyone goes, ‘Ruud’s at the wheel,'” Goldbridge stressed.

“We’ve been down that road before it cannot be Ruud van Nistelrooy as Man United’s saviour – it can’t.”

“We’ve been here before, we cannot do that again,” he said.

The likes of Xavi – current favourite according to Oddchecker- Ruben Amorim, Julien Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso have been linked with the job, but it is still unclear what route United will go down in their pursuit of a new boss.
