Antony reveals cryptic message on his undershirt after scoring again for Real Betis

The Brazilian has found form since arriving on loan at the La Liga outfit during the winter transfer window.

Former Manchester United winger Antony displayed a message on a shirt underneath his Real Betis jersey after he scored in the club’s 3-0 win in the Conference League play-off first leg against Gent on Thursday evening.

Antony, 24, left United on loan in the winter transfer window, having fallen out of favour with head coach Ruben Amorim.

And since arriving at the Seville-based club, he has seen an upturn in his form – already scoring twice in just three appearances.

In recent weeks, the winger was named Man of the Match for his performances against Athletic Club and Celta Vigo.

The Brazilian made a positive impact during his Conference League debut in Belgium on Thursday evening when he scored a stunning goal to give his side the lead.

During the celebrations of his goal, he revealed a message which was emblazoned on a shirt underneath his match jersey.

“Exaltado seas sobre los cielos, oh Dios; Sobre toda la tierra sea tu gloria,” read the message - a verse from the Bible - which translates to “Exalted seas above the sky, oh God; Above all the land, your glory,” in English.

Of course, he will be hoping to maintain his impressive form and even potentially return to United if Amorim, 40, considers the player to be part of his plans.

Antony is clearly enjoying life in Andalusia and expressed how he knew this would be the case.

"In my heart I knew that I would be very happy at Betis, I was sure about that," Antony said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.

“This win goes for the fans, they never stop supporting us."

The 24-year-old still has some way to go if he is to justify the reported £81.3m transfer fee United paid for him when he signed from Ajax in the summer of 2022.

It is still unclear if he will be given a second chance at United but the club should recoup some of the money if they were to allow him to leave on a permanent deal, with the player contracted to the Red Devils until the June 2027.

Transfermarkt currently value the player at €20m (£16.6m) more than £60m less than the fee the Premier League side signed him for.
