Manchester United have responded to their devastating 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford by identifying another transfer target, according to a new report.
United re-lived their nightmares of recent years gone by against their fierce rivals, with Luis Diaz scoring twice before half-time.
The first goal arrived following a misplaced pass from Casemiro, with poor defending from the hosts allowing Diaz to nod in Mohamed Salah's cross.

The second goal followed a similar pattern, with Diaz winning the ball from Casemiro before combining with Salah and hitting a first-time effort low into the bottom right corner.
Salah made it three after the break when another slick Liverpool move resulted in the Egyptian slotting the ball into the net beyond the grasp of goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Casemiro's display took most of the headlines from a United point of view, as he was withdrawn from the action at half-time with young midfielder Toby Collyer taking his place.

The change had little effect, though, as United continued to be overrun in midfield. Kobbie Mainoo was outstrengthened in the lead-up to Liverpool's third goal.
Now, manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly identified another transfer target to add to his midfield - who can be signed right now.
The player in question, according to Dutch outlet Transfer Watch, is midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who still hasn't found a club after returning from Euro 2024 duty with France.
United came close to signing Rabiot in 2022 for a fee of £15 million, but could not finalise personal terms and the deal was off.

The Athletic claim that Rabiot was unhappy about comments made on the club's in-house media channel, MUTV, by United legend Lou Macari about his character.
If he joins this time around, he can play for United immediately providing he is registered by the Premier League's deadline of September 14.
The Rabiot link has emerged following Ajax's interest in Christian Eriksen, with Transfer Watch claiming that the Dutch giants want to bring the 32-year-old midfielder back to the club.
That is because the Dutch transfer window closes today (September 2), with Ajax having to be patient to see whether they can get a deal over the line with United.
