Leny Yoro's stats compared to Man Utd's other centre-backs ahead of £52 million transfer and there's a clear winner

Leny Yoro is nearing a £52 million move to Man United and his stats have been compared to the team's current centre-backs.

Manchester United's imminent new £52 million signing Leny Yoro has seen his stats compared to the team's current central defenders and there is a clear winner.

The 18-year-old wonderkid is set to become United's second signing of the summer after the Red Devils agreed a £52 million fee with Lille.

Yoro has since flown out to the United Kingdom to undergo a medical, with an announcement said to be close.

The defender is one of the most exciting youngsters around and played 32 times in Ligue One for last season.

The 6ft 3 man mountain will come in as a replacement for Raphael Varane after United beat off competition from Real Madrid.

And through the Squawka 'Comparison Matrix', Yoro's stats have been analysed against Erik ten Hag's current centre-back options from last season.

It's Lisandro Martinez, quite possibly Yoro's partner next term, who narrowly takes it for pass accuracy with 93% to 92% - though Yoro played more forward passes than anyone else.

Harry Maguire was the top dog when it comes to aerial duels but then in every department, Yoro came out on top.

He won the most ground duels as well as having the most clearances (97), interceptions (36) and ball recoveries (124).

As his highlights show, Yoro is extremely calm and composed with with an excellent ability to read the game.

He is very impressive positionally and also possesses vital recovery pace for getting back and making tackles.

And crucially, he looks to be comfortable on the ball having completed 1,727 passes for Lille in Ligue One last season - a record for a teenager across Europe's top five leagues.

Yoro's contract was due to expire in 2025 and so Lille have sanctioned a sale instead of losing him on a free next summer.

He joins Victor Osimhen, Rafael Leao and Nicolas Pepe as some of the club's biggest outgoings.
