Ruben Amorim 'makes shocking private admission' to friends about Man Utd players and it will worry fans

A report has emerged about what Ruben Amorim thinks of his Manchester United players.

Ruben Amorim has reportedly made a shock admission to his friends about Manchester United and the club's players that will worry fans.

Amorim was appointed Man United manager last November as he replaced Erik ten Hag, signing a contract until June 2027, with the option of a further year.

He arrived at Old Trafford having made a name for himself in Portugal, where he produced managerial heroics for Sporting CP, which included a victory over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the Champions League.

But Amorim has endured a difficult start to life as Man United manager, with the Red Devils suffering their latest setback against Fulham, who dumped them out of the FA Cup last weekend.

Ahead of Man United resuming their Europa League campaign on Thursday, a report claims the 40-year-old has told 'friends he thinks he made a mistake taking the job'.

That's according to Football Insider, who state Amorim feels he should have waited until this summer at least and should not have succumbed to the 'now-or-never' ultimatum issued by Man United chiefs amid negotiations.

Sources also claim the Portuguese has been 'personally shocked by how bad the players are', having 'thought they were much better'.

Amorim has already lost 10 games since taking charge of Man United, including their FA Cup elimination to Fulham as the holders were dumped out of the competition on penalties.

But Man United can somewhat salvage their season with Europa League success.

They face Real Sociedad in the last-16, but Amorim insists the club have 'bigger' things to think about.

"People are looking at Europa League as the unique competition that we can win, also the connection with qualifying for the UCL," he said.

"But to tell you the truth, I think we have bigger things to think.

"I know it's strange to say that, but it's something that we are trying to build here, that is going to be more important than winning a Cup in this moment."

SPORTbible has reached out to Manchester United and Ruben Amorim's representatives for comment.
