Manchester United have received a positive development in their pursuit of one of Real Madrid's top targets, according to reports.
United brought in five new players in the summer transfer window, including two from Bayern Munich.
Both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui were snapped up from the Bavarian giants but United have been linked with a further three Bayern stars and are monitoring Leon Goretzka, Leroy Sane and Alphonso Davies.
Davies' contract with Bayern is due to expire in 2025 and it's believed that United would be keen on signing him on a free transfer next summer.

However Real Madrid's interest in the Canada captain is well-documented and there have been some suggestions that a deal is already in the pipeline.
Davies is free to negotiate a summer switch from January, with contract talks with Bayern currently on the back-burner.
But while United are an outside bet to land Davies, German journalist Christian Falk believes they can rival Real for his signature if they are willing to match his salary demands.

“Alphonso Davies is still dreaming of Real Madrid. Bayern Munich have taken a break on contract talks,” Falk told CaughtOffside in his new column.
“They don’t want to engage in discussions with his agent, Nick Huoseh, any more, as they think the salary demands are too high. They don’t want to pay him over €20m a year.
“If United are willing to pay this, they would be a big competitor for Real Madrid. At the moment, I heard of talks with Real Madrid but I’ve yet to hear the same for Manchester United.
“Of course, if a player like Davies is on the market, he’s also on the radar of United. If they’re searching for a player in that position, Davies would sit at the table."

United's reported interest comes despite Erik ten Hag labelling Davies "not a great defender" ahead of a Champions League clash with Bayern last season.
