Man Utd could raid Premier League rivals for Erik ten Hag replacement as shock name added to list of contenders

Man Utd could raid Premier League rivals for Erik ten Hag replacement as shock name added to list of contenders

Another new name has emerged on Manchester United's managerial shortlist should they sack Erik ten Hag.

Manchester United could raid a Premier League side for an Erik ten Hag replacement after a new name was added to their reported managerial shortlist.

Erik ten Hag is under huge pressure after a £200 million spending spree failed to deliver a strong start to the new season.

United are 13th in the Premier League with seven points from six games and still there are major issues with their style of play and the fact the same problems continue to occur.

Although United elected to stick with Ten Hag after winning the FA Cup, a slew of managers continued to be linked with the post.

Former Bayern Munich and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who was spoken to in the summer, is believed to be an option - while Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi and ex England boss Gareth Southgate have been named as potential contenders.

But according to Duncan Castles from The Times, United are considering Fulham boss Marco Silva as a candidate should they part company with Ten Hag.

The 47-year-old has been with the Cottagers since 2021 and boasts a 46 percent win rate, with the side currently sitting sixth in the Premier League after an impressive start to the season.

United are said to be admirers of the former Everton and Hull coach.

Sir Alex Ferguson, meanwhile, is reportedly in favour of Massimiliano Allegri, who had two spells in charge of Juventus.

He watched the Champions League final in his company and would back him to get the United gig.

If Ten Hag does get the boot, it's claimed that compatriot and assistant manager Ruud van Nistelrooy would be the dressing-room’s preference to come in.

INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe is expected to be in attendance for the trip to Aston Villa this weekend in what could be a crucial game for Ten Hag's fate.
