Manchester United held talks with a superstar forward before the player completed his 'dream' summer move.
The Red Devils bolstered their attacking options during the summer transfer as they snapped up Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta for £72 million.
The club had been linked with a host of other names, including Joao Felix who was discussed at Old Trafford.

That's according to former Portuguese international Paulo Futre, who claims that Jorge Mendes touched base with Man United to discuss a potential transfer of Felix, who also reportedly attracted interest from Liverpool.
"When Joao said he dreamed of playing for Barca, I began to live a nightmare that lasts to this day," he told Cadena Ser. "I called him [Mendes] and told him that the statements that Joao had made were his doing and he said no.
"We argued on the phone, and he told me that he had spoken to Manchester United. I verified what he told me because I have friends and it was true."

Erik ten Hag was eyeing another attacking player following the signing of Hojlund as he wanted an additional forward who could play anywhere across the front line.
Felix, who has been linked with a move to Man United over the years, eventually signed for Barcelona as he penned a season-long loan deal in a transfer he called a 'dream'.
The 23-year-old has scored three goals in five games in all competitions this season, having largely failed at Atletico Madrid following his £113 million switch from Benfica in 2019.
