Man Utd will create unique piece of history against Ipswich Town the moment the game kicks off

Manchester United will enter the record books when their game against Ipswich Town kicks off.

Manchester United will create a unique piece of history when their game against Ipswich Town kicks off.

Man United resume their faltering Premier League campaign at home to Ipswich.

The Red Devils are just three places above tonight's opposition, having collected a measly 30 points this season.

Ruben Amorim's side haven't won a league game in their last three outings, having suffered defeats to Crystal Palace and Tottenham while drawing 2-2 with Everton last weekend.

They will be looking to return to the win column when they host Kieran McKenna's side.

And the moment the game commences, Man United will enter the record books.

Amorim's team will become the first English team to play 6,000 games as an English league club.

Liverpool are next on the list, 14 games behind, with Arsenal a further 97 matches back, per The Times.

Man United have also played the most FA Cup matches, with their 480 games edging out Arsenal's 475 in the competition.

But they are second to Liverpool in international competition, 18 behind the Anfield outfit's figure of 455 and 81 ahead of third-placed Arsenal.

Despite their form this campaign and the lack of silverware in recent seasons, the impressive milestone is a reminder of Man United's stature and history.

Amorim will lead Man United into their 6,000th game.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, he said: "Yeah, since I arrived, when I took the job, I expect to win all the games at home and you have that feeling. I don’t feel the pressure, I don’t feel it. Like again, the supporters are amazing. I don’t feel it. Every time you go to one game at Old Trafford, you feel the support until the end.

"Sometimes, you have one play sometimes in one half and sometimes you feel like the supporters want this so bad, so I don’t feel the pressure and we have to stop thinking about the last games. It can be a new game, it can be a new story, so let’s go forward and play the game."
