Manchester United fans are stunned after finding out the true cost of Alejandro Garnacho.
At just 19, Garnacho is among his side’s most consistent performers this season, while against Everton on Saturday, he became the first United player in Premier League history to win two penalties in one game.
In all competitions, the Argentine youngster has scored seven goals, including an audacious overhead kick in the reverse fixture against Everton in November, while he has claimed a further three assists.

Garnacho might be one of United’s bright sparks this term, but the Old Trafford club have been scouting the player since he was 14, before signing him on a pre-contract from Atletico Madrid two years later.
According to the Athletic, Garnacho’s transfer free was just £150,000 guaranteed, with a further £50,000 depending on targets being achieved.
Atletico also wanted to keep him and are said to have offered him a similar amount of wages to United: £70,000 per year, rising to £90,000 within the deal.

Noting the transfer fee, a third wrote: “That will be his weekly salary soon.”
After his most recent showing against Everton, United legend Rio Ferdinand was among those to praise Garnacho.
Speaking on TNT Sports, the six-time Premier League winner said: “It’s refreshing to see. You have to credit Garnacho. He’s so elusive in those situations and he’s hard to pin down.

“That’s what I loved about him; on and off the ball, he’s one who doesn’t stop and admire. He drives and runs from deep. It’s a clumsy tackle but he invites that.
“I don’t think any of the players at the start of the season expected him to be the player he is now. I think they expected him to be an impact player off the bench.
“The way he moves, he’s infectious. You look at Wayne [Rooney], that was part of his game.”
