Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo is reportedly refusing to use the first-team car park at the club's training base in Carrington.

Born in the Greater Manchester borough of Stockport, Mainoo is the latest product from United's famed academy and made his full Premier League debut against Everton last month.

He has since impressed and started the Red Devils' recent 0-0 draw against Liverpool. As a result, there have been calls amongst fans for him to be selected more often.

The 18-year-old was a key part of United's Youth Cup-winning squad last year alongside fan favourite Alejandro Garnacho.

Garnacho's career has flourished since becoming a mainstay in the first-team and Mainoo will be hoping he can follow in the Argentine internationals footsteps.

However, he isn't getting carried away and according to a recent report in the Manchester Evening News, his feet are firmly on the ground.

The youngster even continues to use the main car park at Carrington rather than driving around to the first-team car park, while also continues to live with his parents.

Manager Erik ten Hag is closely managing his development and is copying a tactic previously used by Sir Alex Ferguson on a young Ryan Giggs in the nineties.

United are withholding Mainoo from media activities - a similar tactic Ten Hag used for Garnacho, who only recently completed his first external interview.

Legendary manager Ferguson did the same with Giggs in his first few years in the United first-team with his first interview being for the BBC in 1994.

It seems to be working so far for Mainoo and if he continues to perform when given opportunities, Ten Hag will it difficult to leave him out.

In a recent interview the United boss said: "When you are good enough, you are old enough and he proved that. When he gets used more often in those games, he will get even more joy from it."
