Man Utd fans spot Joshua Zirkzee's worrying Instagram activity amid rumours he will leave the club in January

Man Utd fans spot Joshua Zirkzee's worrying Instagram activity amid rumours he will leave the club in January

Joshua Zirkzee only joined Manchester United this summer.

Manchester United fans have reportedly spotted what Joshua Zirkzee did on Instagram amid reports linking him with a move away.

During this summer’s transfer window, 23-year-old Zirkzee left Italian Serie A side Bologna for United in a deal worth a reported fee of £36.5 million.

The Dutchman made an impressive start to life at Old Trafford after scoring on his Premier League debut against Fulham in the opening weekend.

However, Zirkzee has struggled since then and has failed to find the back of the net in 10 matches.

On Tuesday, it was claimed that Zirkzee could be looking for a move in the January transfer window, six months after joining United.

According to Calciomercato journalist Daniele Longo, the Dutchman could already be looking to leave Old Trafford, with the player ‘hoping’ to return to Serie A in the January transfer window if his fortunes do not improve at the Red Devils.

Fans also spotted Zirkzee ‘liking’ a video on Instagram that was trolling his positioning on the pitch.

As reported by The Sun, the creator was pretending to be Zirkzee and was showing how he is apparently unable to play as a striker as he kept dropping deep into midfield or down the wide areas.

When he first joined the club, Zirkzee himself admitted that he often will drop into midfield.

He said: “I occasionally drop down to midfield. I don't do that for myself but to help the team.

“I am what I call a false striker. Not a No 9, not a No 10. I am a 9.5! That's my game. Maybe I'm a little different than others. But being different is good, right?”

Speaking about Zirkzee, former England and Arsenal star Paul Merson said: “Joshua Zirkzee did well at Bologna, but it’s a different game here in England and especially at Manchester United.

“You’re always under the microscope at this club, if you miss a chance or not get a chance, it’s always a talking point.

“What’s his best position? Where do they play him? You’ve also got Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, so that’s four players fighting to be in that front-three.”
