Jose Mourinho has already made his feelings clear on Bastian Schweinsteiger’s treatment at Manchester United.
Speaking in the recent episode of The Overlap by SkyBet with Gary Neville, Schweinsteiger spoke about the way he was treated that led to his exit from Old Trafford.
The former German international said: “The next day, my birthday, I walked in, came to Carrington, John Murtough [United's director of development at the time] was there and he said 'you're not allowed to walk into the dressing room. The coach said so’.

“No warning, nothing. He just stood there and told me that. It was not easy for him to tell me that, I must say.”
Schweinsteiger went on to reveal he had to ask someone to bring him his boots and training gear as he went to train with the Under 16s side.
He added: “So I went to the youth dressing room, changed there and trained with the Under-16s. I had to ask him [Murtough] to bring me my training kit and cleats.

“I had a meeting with him [Mourinho] in the afternoon. He explained to me that he didn't see me happy at United, because when I had my injury, I did my rehab with the German doctors, for example.”
Back in 2017, Mourinho already revealed that he regretted the way he treated Schweinsteiger.
The Portuguese said: “He’s in the category of players that I feel sorry for something that I did to him.
“I don’t want to speak about him as a player, I don’t want to speak as I buy or not to buy. I want to speak about him as a professional, as a human being.”

Mourinho added: “The last thing I told him before he left: ‘I was not right with you once, I have to be right with you now.’ So when he was asking me to let him leave I had to say ‘yes’ you can leave because I did it once, I cannot do it twice. So I feel sorry for the first period with him, he knows that. I am happy that he knows because I told him. I will miss a good guy, a good professional, a good influence in training – a very good influence.”
When asked if he regretted his actions, Mourinho said: “Yeah, I do.”
After leaving United, Schweinsteiger went on to play for MLS side Chicago Fire before retiring in 2019.
