Bruno Fernandes has become the first Manchester United player to speak out, following the announcement that Erik ten Hag has been sacked as manager.
Ten Hag's sacking was announced on Monday morning following United's latest Premier League defeat to West Ham which leaves them 14th in the table.
The club released the following statement to confirm the news: "Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.

"Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
"We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
"Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited."
Following the news, United's captain, Fernandes, became the first player to publicly comment on Ten Hag's dismissal with an Instagram post paying tribute to the Dutchman.
“Thanks for everything, boss! I appreciate the trust and the moments we share together, I wish you all the best," he wrote.

“Even knowing the last period hasn’t been great from all of us, I hope you fans can keep with you the good things Erik has done for our club”.
Fernandes captained Ten Hag's side to both of pieces of silverware won during the 54-year-old's tenure at the club, grabbing an assist for Kobbie Mainoo during last season's FA Cup final.
The Portugal international is yet to score so far this campaign, but had been involved in 52 goal involvements in 117 Premier League appearances under the former Ajax boss.

Fernandes' season has also been interrupted with two red cards against Spurs and Porto, however, his straight red at Spurs was later rescinded despite VAR recommending a dismissal.
United's tough start to the campaign wasn't exclusive to the Premier League, with Ten Hag's side failing to win any of their first three matches in the Europa League after losing the lead to Fenerbahce midweek.
