The prize money Manchester United and Manchester City will earn for getting to the FA Cup final has been revealed.
On Saturday, current FA Cup holders City reached the final after beating Chelsea 1-0 with Bernardo Silva scoring late to seal the deal.
However, they had to survive a barrage of Chelsea attacks with Nicolas Jackson particularly wasteful in front of goal.

There was also a controversial VAR moment as Chelsea were denied a penalty when the ball struck Jack Grealish’s arm.
A day later, United survived an almighty scare as they sneaked into the final by beating Championship side Coventry City on penalties.
Erik ten Hag’s men were 3-0 with 20 minutes to play but allowed their opponents back into the match and would’ve lost in extra time if VAR hadn’t intervened.

After reaching the final, both teams will earn £1 million in prize money.
The losers in May’s showdown will get another £1 million, with the winners receiving £2 million.
Although not a small amount of money, the FA Cup prize fund is extremely low compared to the UEFA Champions League.

As reported by The Sporting News, the winners of the Champions League will be given a cool €20 million in prize money, with the runners-up earning €15.5 million.
Winning a match in the group stage alone gets €2.8 million.
Teams also receive €15.64 million by simply reaching the group stage of the competition.
Speaking after reaching the FA Cup final, United boss Ten Hag said: “It was an incredible game, a strange game too. We had total control for so long and then gave it away in the last part of the game. We did show resilience to win the penalty shootout. We had control for 75 minutes and have to give Coventry a compliment for what they did in the last 15 minutes. We have to improve.

“We talk a lot about this. First you have to put yourself in a winning position but then you have to take it over the line. In these moments we are making mistakes and not keeping our responsibilities. We have to show resilience. By the end we did show resilience and determination to win the shootout. When you are so in control you should win easy.”
