James Milner has been statistically proven as Manchester United’s worst-ever opponent.
After leaving Liverpool at the end of the 22/23 season, Milner joined Brighton and Hove Albion as a free agent in the summer transfer window.
On Saturday, Milner was part of the Brighton squad who managed to record another victory against United.

Goals from Danny Welbeck, Pascal Gross and Joao Pedro sealed a 3-1 win at Old Trafford. Hannibal Mejbri was the scorer for Erik ten Hag’s men.
On the back of that victory, Milner has become the player with the most wins against United in Premier League history.
According to OptaJoe, who stated: “Of all players in Premier League history, James Milner has the most wins against Man Utd (11), the joint-most away wins against Man Utd (6), and is the first player to win against Man Utd at Old Trafford with four different sides (Aston Villa, Man City, Liverpool, Brighton). Tormentor.”

Last season, Milner was involved in Liverpool’s famous 7-0 win against United at Anfield. He was also in the squad for Manchester City’s historic 6-1 win against the Red Devils at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the match, a delighted Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi said: “We played a great, great game. We deserved to win, we played well.
“In the first 15, 20 minutes we suffered a lot because United played in a different way than we prepared for but after that we played a great game.”

He continued: “I think the game was changed when we kept the ball. In that moment their pressure was strong and to keep the ball helped us to control the game and then we have four attackers who are very fast and very good.
“We have to keep our style when we are losing, when we are wining. We can’t forget our DNA because the game can change and it’s bad when the result can change our style. We are working to not lose our characteristic, our quality and to score more goals. We scored three but had many chances to score again.”
United are back in action on Wednesday night as they take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
