Manchester United have a player closing in on a return despite the major blow they received with regards to Lisandro Martinez.
Ahead of their Premier League clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Erik ten Hag has been dealt a huge injury blow.
In a statement, United said: “Lisandro Martinez will be out of action for an extended period due to an aggravation of the foot injury he suffered in April.

“The Argentinian defender experienced the setback in our Premier League game against Arsenal earlier this month.
“But it has now been determined that he needs a period on the sidelines for recovery and rehabilitation. Assessment is ongoing to decide next steps.”
In addition to Martinez, it has been confirmed that loan signing Sergio Reguilon is ruled out of the match against Palace with a minor injury.

Despite the two major injury blows, United have been given one piece of good news as talented winger Amad Diallo appears to be closing in on a return.
Taking to social media, the 21-year-old posted a picture of his boots with a message that said: “The return is soon.”
After an impressive loan spell with Sunderland last season, Diallo was again linked with a temporary move away from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window.
The likes of West Ham United, Burnley and Everton were all said to be interested in the winger but a knee injury prevented a move from materialising.

Now, Diallo will be determined to force his way into Ten Hag’s plans as he is expected to make a full return to training after the October international break.
During his post match press conference, Ten Hag spoke about his team’s mounting injury list.
He said: “Every time the schedule is expanding, the load on the players is too much, it's such a great overload. Many colleagues of mine have pointed to that and I have pointed to that as well.

“But it keeps going. We keep expanding the schedule. Anywhere, it won't stop. Players can't deal anymore with this overload and I think that's what you say in this squad at the moment.”
