'Why would you do this?' - Man City break the Internet with post after embarrassing Spurs defeat and it's baffled everybody

'Why would you do this?' - Man City break the Internet with post after embarrassing Spurs defeat and it's baffled everybody

City's social media activity has got fans talking.

Manchester City suffered a devastating 4-0 home defeat to Tottenham on Saturday - and a post from the club's official social media account afterwards has baffled everyone.

City lost their fifth consecutive game in a row for the first time since 2006, with the unwanted landmark being reached by Pep Guardiola for the first time in his managerial career.

It was the manner of the defeat that will have worried the Spaniard the most, though, with City consistently being carved open defensively.

While they created plenty of chances going forward, Erling Haaland missed two clear-cut opportunities - one of which could have given them an early lead.

Spurs only had nine shots to City's 23 but made them count, with James Maddison scoring a brace and both Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson also finding the net.

It is uncharted territory for City under their current ownership, and they will end the weekend eight points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool if Arne Slot's side win at Southampton.

The defeat will no doubt be one that Guardiola and his players will want to move on from quickly - and it seems as if the club's social media account might want to do the same.

They posted a two-minute highlights clip of the 4-0 loss under half an hour after full-time - and fans were all saying the same thing in response.

One wrote: "What team posts a highlight comp of a 4-0 home loss."

A second joked: "Been waiting for this one to drop!"

A third added: "Posting highlights from you getting pumped 4-0 I'm crying."

And a fourth wrote: "Just imagined the United admin posting highlights from our 7-0 loss to Liverpool, my head would be on Pluto."

City are next in action on Tuesday when they host Feyenoord in the Champions League.
