Spanish newspaper MARCA have had their say on the Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo debate.

MARCA have had their say on who is the greatest footballer of all time, with a new award set to be handed out to their choice.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are widely viewed as the two best footballers in history, with 13 Ballon d'Ors between them.

The two have changed the face of football with their incredible achievements on the pitch and boast a combined total of nearly 2000 goals.

Both are still going strong as they approach their forties and the debate regarding who has the edge almost feels never-ending.

Spanish newspaper MARCA covered the bulk of each star's career when they were dominating in Spain and have now given their view.

As per @AlbicelesteTalk on X, who have screenshots from the MARCA site, Messi has been named the best player of all-time ahead of Ronaldo.

Ronaldo comes in second, ahead of both Pele and Alfredo Di Stefano, who have been ranked third and fourth respectively.

MARCA have Messi down as the undisputed best though, writing: "In the Big 6 all have an incredible track record. Messi has won more than anyone, which is why he has the honor of being recognized as the No. 1 of the No. 1s."

The 37-year-old is poised to receive a new award from the outlet, who will present him with the 'MARCA America Award'.

A ceremony will take place at Inter Miami's Chase Stadium, with Messi being recognised for his "exceptional career".
