Arsenal fans are not happy with John Stones after hearing what the Manchester City defender had to say after their dramatic draw.

City star Stones was the hero for his team on Sunday evening after he scored a last-gasp equaliser to earn his side a 2-2 draw against a spirited Arsenal.

Speaking after the match, the Englishman spoke about Arsenal’s performance in the second half and their bid to close the game out.

He told Sky Sports: "It was a good battle, a lot of tackles. Some silly decisions, but it's hard to digest it all. But we come away with a point, towards the end of the game it could have been us losing three games. We'll review it, we have a game in two days which is quick and fast.

"I wouldn't say they've mastered it. They've been doing it for a few years. You can call it clever and dirty, whichever way you call it, it upsets the rhythm for everyone. They use it for their advantage. We controlled our emotions really well.”

Stones added: “What everyone expects watching a big game like this is there's drama and whether you're involved in it, you want to be level-headed and not make silly yellow cards. They made it difficult for us being so deep and having so many people around the box. It will be something we have to review.

"For the past few years, there's been a rivalry that's been growing. One where we've always wanted to be on top. We've got one, we wanted three. But we came away with a vital point is something we should be proud of.”

Reacting on social media, one Arsenal fan said: “John Stones has just suggested we’ve done dirty tactics for years, I’m sorry, what???”

Another tweeted: “John Stones has the cheek to moan Arsenal used the dark arts. Man City have been tactically fouling and using the dark arts for years.”

A third fan added: “City have been doing this since the Fernandinho days, now it's against them they want to cry.”
