Bernardo Silva might have taken the worst free-kick in history during Manchester City vs Brentford.
On Tuesday night, reigning champions City were hoping to close the gap between themselves and league leaders Liverpool to one point with a win against Brentford.
During what was a cagey affair, it took Pep Guardiola’s men until the 71st minute to find the back of the net, with Erling Haaland scoring against the Bees for the first time since arriving in England.
Prior to the goal, there was a moment to forget for Silva after City were awarded a free-kick in a promising position.

With men up from the back, the Portuguese midfielder was expected to play the ball into the penalty area.
However, Silva got it horribly wrong and kicked the ball straight out of play.
Reacting on social media, one fan said: “Actually baffling.”
Another tweeted: “Did he do that on purpose? I can’t think of any other explanation.”

A third fan added: “Did his foot slip? What the hell happened? What did I just watch lmao.”
Someone else wrote: “He just wanted Doku to be subbed in faster. Actual team player.”
A fifth commented: “Only way it could've been worse is if it went vertical.”
Another fan said: "Jesus, what was that from Bernardo Silva? The worst thing I have ever seen from him."

On the back of their victory against Brentford, City moved up to second in the Premier League table, just one point behind leaders Liverpool.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s men have the chance to extend the lead to four points if they manage to beat Luton Town at Anfield on Wednesday night.
If Luton manage to record a shock win at Anfield, City will have the chance to overtake Liverpool this weekend with a win against Bournemouth as Klopp's men are in Carabao Cup final action at Wembley, where they will take on Chelsea.
