Liverpool have reportedly identified two alternatives to Xabi Alonso as their search for Jurgen Klopp’s replacement continues.
Back in January the Anfield club was rocked by the announcement that Klopp will depart at the end of the 23/24 campaign.
The German, who was appointed in 2015 to replace Brendan Rodgers, said he was running out of energy and ‘cannot do the job again and again and again and again’.
On the back of this shock news, Liverpool are no doubt working around the clock to find the perfect replacement.

Former Liverpool midfielder and Bayer Leverkusen boss Alonso has been heavily linked with the soon-to-be vacant job. The Spaniard has also been tipped to replace Thomas Tuchel, who is leaving Bayern Munich in the summer.
However, it has been reported that Alonso could stay at Leverkusen and wait for an opening at Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid.
As a result of this latest development, Liverpool are believed to have identified two alternatives to Alonso.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the Reds have reportedly picked out Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim and Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann as alternative options to the Spaniard.

Amorim has led Sporting Lisbon back towards the top of the Portuguese league, challenging Benfica for the title.
Meanwhile, Nagelsmann is aiming to slightly rebuild his reputation after he was dismissed by Bayern back in March 2023.
Nagelsmann would be an easier target to deal with as he is out of contract with the German national team when EURO 2024 finishes.

Amorim has two years left in his contract with Sporting Lisbon, which means Liverpool will have to pay compensation if they are to lure him to Merseyside.
Aside from Amorim and Nagelsmann, the likes of Thomas Frank, Roberto De Zerbi, Ange Postecoglou and Zinedine Zidane have all been linked with the Anfield job.
Liverpool have the chance to win the first trophy of the season when they take on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
