A former Manchester United star has revealed some big Xabi Alonso news that Liverpool fans will be excited by.
Last month, the world of football was rocked to its core after it was confirmed that Jurgen Klopp is stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of the 23/24 season.
The German said: “It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.”
Since the news was confirmed, former Reds midfielder and current Bayer Leverkusen boss Alonso is the bookies’ favourite to replace Klopp at Anfield.

Speaking recently about Alonso, ex-United man Bastian Schweinsteiger claimed his former Bayern Munich teammate would love to become the new Liverpool manager.
Schweinsteiger told German broadcaster ARD, as per Empire of the Kop: “I know Xabi and I believe that it is his big dream to coach Liverpool one day. I certainly think it’s possible that he will move to Liverpool in the summer.
“I want him to stay in the Bundesliga for a bit longer because he is a godsend for the Bundesliga. Were it not for Leverkusen being so good, Bayern would already be miles ahead in terms of points. Then the situation would be different, but because Leverkusen are so good, we have a title race.”

Speaking about his future last month, Alonso said: “To be honest I am not in this moment thinking about the next step. I am thinking about where I am right now and I think I am in a great place which I enjoy.
“I'm going to be happy if we play well and deserve to win. What's going to happen in the future... I don't know and I don't really care at the moment. Speculation is normal, my focus is here on Bayer Leverkusen.”
