Arne Slot has decided on who he wants to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mo Salah in the event they move on, reports claim.

Both players, along with captain Virgil van Dijk, are set to be out of contract in the summer and supporters are desperate for the key trio to extend their stay on Merseyside.

Recent reports claim contract proposals have been put to all three players but nothing has been signed yet. And it appears as though Liverpool are preparing for the scenario that Alexander-Arnold and Salah and have potential replacements in their sights.

On the Daily Briefing podcast on Tuesday morning, Mark Brus, editor of Caught Offside, claimed that Liverpool's transfer chief Richard Hughes has identified Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong as a "top target" should Alexander-Arnold depart on a free.

Slot is said to feel as though compatriot Frimpong, a Manchester City academy product, is a perfect fit for his way of playing. Playing high up as a wing-back last season, Frimpong scored 14 goals and delivered 12 assists for Xabi Alonso's men as they won the Bundesliga without losing a game and lifted the DFB Pokal.

Salah has been very vocal about not receiving an offer and possibly leaving for pastures new after scoring more than 200 goals since arriving from Roma in 2017.

It's a near-impossible to find someone who can produce his numbers in terms of goals and assists but Liverpool are said to be looking at Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane and Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Sane enjoyed a productive time in the Premier League with City, winning two Premier League titles and scoring 39 goals in 135 appearances. After suffering an ACL injury against Liverpool in the Community Shield in 2019, he returned to Germany a year later with Bayern and has scored 51 times while winning three Bundesliga titles.

The 28-year-old, who played on the left in England but has lined up on the right in Germany, has regularly been linked with a return to the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Kvaratskhelia is also of interest after blossoming into one of the most exciting wingers in Europe after a slew of scintillating displays for Napoli.

He is said to be closing in on a new, improved contract with the Naples outfit.

Liverpool made it six wins from six in the Champions League thanks to Salah's penalty in the 1-0 win over Girona and return to action in the league against Fulham on Saturday.
